For the past two years (2013-2014), Timothy Leonard has been serving as the Student Representative for Sigma Tau Delta in the Midwestern Region, and is now excited to start his new position as Student Advisor. Leonard earned his bachelor's degree in English, with a double major in English Writing and English Literature, from Indiana University at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). He is currently completing an M.A. in Literature from Indiana University at IPFW, and will be pursuing an MLS in the fall of 2016.
His passion for antiquarian literature is both professional and personal. Most recently, Leonard uncovered a manuscript by William Makepeace Thackeray, dated 1829, and is currently co-authoring an article about the discovery. His academic goals are to preserve antiquarian literature, manuscripts, and documents for generations to come. Through his on going research that includes 19th Century Victorian Fiction, Sensation Fiction, 19th Century Periodicals, and the history of the book—Leonard strives to represent the Society's ultimate goal of enhancing literacy through sincerity, truth, and design.
Leonard's motivation for becoming a Student Advisor is to create new opportunities for national and international chapters to participate together in service projects. He intends to build upon the accomplishments of his peers in Student Leadership, and to add additional support in the form of communication, networking, and the promotion of chapter ideals.
