Program Schedule

The convention schedule includes over 125 sessions featuring the works both of Sigma Tau Delta students and alumni, and of members of Sigma Kappa Delta, the English honor society for two-year colleges. Other scheduled events are:

Wednesday, March 5

  1. Registration desk open from 3:30 – 8:00 PM
  2. Wear your school T-shirt, share your school spirit, and meet others on Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM! Enjoy listening to members read their work published in The Rectangle.

Thursday, March 6

  1. Learn from Sigma Tau Delta's most successful chapters! The Student Representatives and Student Advisors are sponsoring Necessary Contradictions: Serving to Lead on Thursday morning. The workshop features breakout sessions on fundraising, service, publishing a literary journal, small-, large-, and new-chapter development, integrating technology (getting your chapter online), and Alumni Epsilon membership (making the most of your membership).
  2. Attend the Chapter Sponsors’ Workshop on Thursday morning. Discuss issues that sponsors face in fostering chapter involvement, recruiting new members, and developing chapter leaders. This workshop is led by some of Sigma Tau Delta’s most successful chapter sponsors.
  3. General session with Naomi Shihab Nye
  4. (Dry) T-shirt and Skit Competition/Bad Poetry Contest Enjoy while your peers and professors recreate humiliating childhood scenes, conjure up adolescent turmoil, and expose their wounded hearts in poetry that will make you weep uncontrollably, laugh out loud, or do both.

Friday, March 7

  2. Lunch for Sigma Kappa Delta attendees
  3. Business Meeting and the Regional Caucuses—chapters must send a voting delegate to both meetings in order to receive the $200 voting delegate reimbursement ($400 for chapters outside the 48 contiguous states) See Details
