Guu'aadzi. Bienvenidos. Welcome!

In 2015, Sigma Tau Delta begins its 91st year as the English Honor Society, and we are again preparing to celebrate our members and their work, this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This will be our first visit back to our Southwestern Region in 13 years. Just as our opening greeting pays homage to the diversity of our Southwestern Region in general, and Albuquerque in particular, by incorporating the Acoma Pueblo Keres, Spanish, and English languages, so our convention will also make this locale and its diversity a focal point. We've selected the theme Borderlands and Enchantments: Borderlands because this region is both defined and challenged by its current and historical physical borders and Enchantments as a nod to our host state's moniker, The Land of Enchantment, as well as the region's spiritual and cultural richness which both enchant and provide a sense of magic. We've lined up a group of celebrated speakers whose lives, works, and ancestry tie them physically, culturally, and artistically to the Southwest, and we're preparing a variety of sessions, workshops, roundtables, and activities that will allow all convention attendees to explore the region's diversity. While the Southwest will certainly be a focal point, don't worry that other areas will be neglected. There will be enough American, British, World Literature, Theory, and English Education to satisfy all of you and plenty of focus on a variety of genres and the creative side of writing and English Studies. You won't be disappointed. If you haven't yet been to a convention, this year's would be a good first-time. With its mountain vistas, desert landscapes, rich culture, traditions, and pop culture icons (after all, we are in the land of Heisenberg), Albuquerque will certainly cast its spell on you!
