2026 Convention

2026 Convention Update

The Sigma Tau Delta 2026 Convention will be held March 29 – April 1, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans in New Orleans, LA. Convention is a truly wonderful event that allows hundreds of Sigma Tau Deltans from around the globe to gather each spring in one locale, share experiences and ideas, make formal presentations to their peers, be recognized for their achievements, and participate in the official work of the Society. At the convention, opportunities abound to meet face-to-face with other students, faculty, and respected authors; make new friends; discuss the disciplines of the English language and literature; and enjoy the offerings of the convention’s location.

Chapter Fundraising

While fundraising is a necessary activity for almost every Sigma Tau Delta chapter—and although attending convention may not be the only (or even primary) use of your fundraising energies—the opportunity to attend and present at the convention can generate renewed enthusiasm and creativity for fundraising. Attendees also return home with exciting new ideas and resources for projects and activities that will bring in money for your chapter next year. Visit the Funding page of the convention site to read advice from Student Leaders, Chapter Advisors, and Convention Planners for obtaining funding for convention travel. Also, consider hosting a Double Good popcorn fundraiser at your chapter. 50% of all sales income is returned to the chapter for use on their chosen project. There are no fees, and no cash exchanges hands: everything is digital. Sigma Tau Delta receives no money from chapter fundraisers.

LitFest and Workshops

Building on the tremendous success of the 2025 LitFest, the 2026 Convention Co-Chairs are excited to continue this celebration of literature, writers, and the power of storytelling. Modeled after world-renowned literary festivals, LitFest will feature sessions woven throughout the convention, offering attendees unique opportunities to engage with a diverse lineup of speakers.

This year’s program highlights both internationally recognized voices and writers rooted in the vibrant literary culture of New Orleans. Attendees are encouraged to explore their work in advance and then join us for thought-provoking conversations, creative insights, and opportunities to connect directly with the authors themselves.

Alongside LitFest, the 2026 Convention will host an exciting series of workshops designed to inspire, challenge, and support participants at every stage of their literary and professional journeys. The program brings together award-winning authors, editors, librarians, educators, and cultural leaders who will share their expertise through engaging talks, interactive sessions, and mentoring opportunities.

Highlights include workshops exploring New Orleans’ rich cultural traditions, sessions offering guidance on career pathways for English graduates, and celebrations of the freedom to read. Attendees will also have the chance to take part in the New Orleans Writing Marathon, an immersive experience that connects personal creativity with the city’s unique literary heritage.
